Collections Care and Conservation for Fashion & Textile Collections

About

Olivia K. Hall is currently completing a Masters of Arts degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC) in Fashion & Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice, with a focus on textile and fashion conservation.

She is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of historic fashion & textile collections and research through practice-lead learning. Her research interest and aspiration to work in the field of fashion & textile history has always been driven by the objects themselves and recognizing their importance, potential, precarity, and communicative power. Her research methodology centers the object and the specific biographies they can reveal to us. Other research interests include the history of textile and garment labor, modern textile design in fashion, and gender theory in fashion and art. The success of studying and proliferating these histories of design and textiles relies on the preservation and care of historic collections.

Olivia is based in Brooklyn, New York.
